Streaming platforms would like to avoid this trend, but many users of Disney+, Netflix, Deezer, etc. share their access with their family or friends. With the proliferation of offers, most users of music or video streaming services have chosen to share their access to share the costs!
However, sharing your Netflix (or other) credentials puts you at the mercy of the people you share them with…
Luckily, there is an online service that allows you to share your login details and passwords with anyone you want without revealing anything to them!
Share your Netflix credentials with Jam
To share your access with your friends, you will first have to create an account on the Jam platform. This only takes a few seconds. Secondly, invite your friends to create an account… and add them to your circle of friends.
Then you can start entering the accesses to the sites you want to share.
For this, you have two options.
The first option (Secure credentials) allows you to simply share your username and password… this option can be convenient in some cases, but it forces you to give your password directly to your loved ones. This is clearly not where the interest of Jam lies, but it still allows you to securely share identifiers to a site.
The second option (Magic link) reveals all the interest of Kam. Sharing your information with your loved ones will only constitute a link that will allow them to connect directly to a site… without having access to your identifiers and password! Formidable!
To set up this Magic Link (and also to use it) you will need to install a Jam extension in your browser. Then, go to the site on which you want to provide access, log in and click on the Jam extension button in your browser. Press "Add a login" to add access to this site on your Jam space.
You can then decide whether or not to grant your friends access to each of the sites you share on Jam…
They will then be able to use the Jam extension to use the magic links or recover your credentials if you share them in the format Secure credentials.
In terms of your data privacy, all login information you save on Jam is encrypted using your password. The site does not know your master password (the one you log in with) and therefore cannot read or modify the data you save on the site.
Regarding the legality of this service
While many of the websites you use have no problem sharing your credentials, most streaming platforms simply prohibit sharing your credentials… and often offer “family” plans to give you the option to share your subscription within a limited framework.
Please be aware that if you use Jam, you do so knowingly and you must respect the conditions of use of the platforms whose identifiers you share.
