With the advent of the internet, came the advent of data. This is Big Data… Every minute on the Internet, so many things happen that it is difficult to quantify… And since the birth of the Internet, it has continued to increase exponentially. Since 2013, the Internet population has grown by 18.5%, going from 2.4 billion users to 3.2 billion.
Domo has just released version 3 of their study entitled "Data Never Sleeps" in which they present everything that happens on the Internet and social networks in 1 minute. One thing is for sure, it's pretty impressive.
In fact, every minute on the Internet:
- 347 tweets are written
- 51 apps are downloaded from Apple's App Store
- 300 hours of videos are uploaded to YouTube
- 4 Facebook users press a “Like” button
- 694 people order a driver on Uber
- 110 calls are made on Skype
- 34 videos are watched on BuzzFeed
- 284 Snaps are shared on SnapChat
- 1 videos are played on Vine which didn't even exist in 041
- 1 photos are “liked” on Instagram
- ...
And these figures are expected to continue to grow in the coming years! Stay tuned!
Data is being created all the time without us even realizing it. Much of what we do every day now takes place in the digital world, leaving an ever-growing trail that can be measured and analyzed.
