When I think of "Diary," I see vivid images in my mind of a young girl lying on her bed, writing in a notebook that closes with a small lock, her deepest thoughts about life, love, and her friends...
This archaic and somewhat macho vision of personal diary is no longer relevant since today, there is an online, private and free alternative called Monkkee ! This version 2.0 of the diary is therefore far from the clichés that I mentioned above.
Monkkee is therefore a system of online note taking, ultra-secure and 100% private. Moreover, this tool is only available in private mode and it is therefore impossible to share your writings with the world, like with a good old paper journal! And that's what makes Monkkee so charming!
Concerning the security of your data, the site encrypts them locally on your computer (tablet or smartphone) then sends them directly to its servers using an SSL encrypted transfer system... in short, in a simpler version, only you can read your data by accessing it using your password (which cannot be reset if you lose it!!!)!
Monkkee the diary 2.0
To use Monkkee, you will therefore have to create a 100% free account (the platform only survives thanks to donations from its community).
Once created, you will be able to create your first post. You will then have access to a very classic text editor with many formatting tools.
The editor also allows you to insert images or links.
All your posts are displayed on your home screen as a list in which you can find the first sentences.
Finally, if you want to keep a physical record of this journal that you cannot share, it is possible and easy to print one or more of your entries (to stick them in your paper diary??).
In short, if I didn't have Byothe.fr or Twitter to be able to tell lots of things, it is very likely that I would use Monkkee on a daily basis to write down many thoughts that come to mind! The tool is really well designed and I can only highly recommend it!
