I told you a few weeks ago about Gnoosic, an online tool which suggests music groups to you based on 3 artists that you like, and you should know that the developer of Gnoosic and its Gnod engine, the German Marek Gibney, uses its database to map music groups.
Under the name of Music Map, this service is presented as “the tourist map of music”.
With its very refined ergonomics, you just have to type the name of a group and it will be positioned in relation to other nearby groups or in any case in relation to the way people position these groups... The closer the names of the groups are on the map, the more likely you will be to appreciate these groups.
So, if we take the legendary French rock group Téléphone, it will be positioned close to Jean-Louis Aubert, Indochine, Louis Bertignac, and you will find a little further Noir Désir or the Rita Mitsouko:
The result is quite relevant and can be very effective for exploring new musical groups without straying too far from your own tastes. In addition, if you click on a name in the map, it will be positioned at the center of the universe and you will find the artists associated with it.
Remember, Gnod, the brain of the system behind all this is a database fed by the tastes of the users of the service… so the more time passes, the more it becomes complete and refined!
In short, Music Map is a nice little online service that complements Gnoosic quite effectively in the quest to renew your music library!
