In an increasingly connected world, cultures from all over the world tend to interconnect and mix. Thus, in most countries we find the same international stars, regardless of their country of origin.
And yet, the site that I am going to introduce to you will allow you to see that some interplanetary hits do not reach the top of the charts in all countries at the same time. Each country or even each region displays preferences that can vary.

So, Music Map is an interactive map that aims to show the number 1 songs around the world at any given moment. More than 3 places are represented by the song that is currently a hit.
In the form of a planisphere, this interactive map will show you in each country and then in each region if you zoom in, the most listened to song. The songs are represented by colored zones, which allows you to see which countries or zones like the same music at the same time.

So, on the map above, we discover that in Europe the French are fans of Mwaka Moon of Kalash while the Spaniards prefer Echame La Culpa by Luis Fonsi. In most other countries, however, it is Perfect by Ed Sheeran who wins the bet.
By clicking on a country or region, a box opens with the YouTube video of the song in question. This allows you to discover or rediscover songs that are buzzing!
Finally, if you want a global view, the right part of the chart gives access to the top 10 worldwide!
When you select a song, you also have the option to check a box so that the map only displays the places where this song is number 1…
If we take the example of Mwaka Moon, we discover that it is only number 1 in France, Martinique and Guyana…

This just goes to show how marketing and hype can propel a song to the top of the charts!
In short, Music Map is a nice little tool that is well designed to discover the songs that are creating a buzz, all over the world!
