When I use the Chrome web browser, I usually open several tabs and they are almost always the same Internet pages: my mailbox, my X account (ex-Twitter), the Byothe.fr back office and other tools that I use to work on this blog. So, I knew that Chrome allowed to launch a list of links when it opens, but I had never taken the time to configure it for my own use… And it's really stupid, because it's very simple to set up and the time saving is quite significant!
So I'm going to show you how configure multiple predefined tabs to open when Chrome launches.
Open multiple tabs when Chrome starts
If you don't like digging through your software options, there's no way you've ever stumbled upon this handy option. Chrome which allows you to open multiple tabs when launching the browser. Indeed, you have to dig a little into the guts of the beast to access the options relating to the browser startup.
Meet in the settings from chrome via the 3 small vertical dots at the top right of the browser or type directly “ chrome: // settings »In the navigation bar.
Look for the part titled “ When the engine starts And select the button Open a specific page or set of pages"
You will then have the option to add all the pages currently open on Chrome at once by clicking on Use current pages.
You can then delete or modify the pages that will open by clicking on the 3 vertical dots next to each URL. This allows you to sort if some added pages do not interest you or no longer.
Finally, you can add new pages by clicking at the bottom on Add a page. You will then need to enter its URL and click on Add.
No need to validate anything, the setting is saved by Chrome as you change it and will allow you to open multiple tabs. To go back, simply select Open the “New Tab” page and Chrome will launch on a blank tab on startup.
Note that you can also choose the option Pick up where you left off which allows you to reopen all the tabs that were open when you closed Chrome. Handy!
And there you have it, every time you open Chrome, it will automatically open your selection of pages, saving you precious time!
