My friend Alexandre from the blog Neozone created a very practical tool some time ago since it allows you to very easily recover the thumbnail of a YouTube video.
The thumbnail is the image that is displayed to represent the video before it is launched… it is the thumbnail in English.
So it can be quite handy to retrieve this image for various uses. It is possible to do it manually using well-defined URLs. For example the URL http://img.youtube.com/vi/VpG3x3CKc5k/sddefault.jpg will retrieve the HD thumbnail of the video VpG3x3CKc5k… This is good to know, but it is not really practical.
It is therefore to facilitate the recovery of these miniatures that YouTube thumbnail has been developed.
Retrieve the thumbnail of a video with YouTube thumbnail
- Go to YouTube Thumbnail
- Paste the URL of the YouTube video for which you want to retrieve the thumbnail in the dedicated field
- And voila
- You just have to make a right click on the image who interests you and do Save Image As…to recover it on your hard drive
You will thus be able to recover several formats:
- High Definition (1920×1080 pixels)
- Standard Definition (640×480 pixels)
- Thumbnail (480×360 pixels)
- Medium quality (320×180 pixels)
- Normal quality (120×90 pixels)
- First image (120×90 pixels)
- Second image (120×90 pixels)
- Last image (120×90 pixels)
Convenient, isn't it?
