What is of course the Internet is that there is almost always a solution to your problems! So, if you need to blur or anonymize a photo or image, there are several sites that allow you to do it without having to use complex software or tools.
And that's exactly what Redacted allows you to do.
This free tool lets you censor parts of an image, adding blurry, pixelated, or black areas to specific locations.
To do this, simply upload an image to the site by dragging and dropping it or by searching for it on your hard drive.
The image will then be displayed in your browser and a toolbox will open allowing you to choose between blurring, pixelation or redaction. Of course, it is possible to anonymize several areas on your photo and to choose a rectangular or rounded shape.
A small “Settings” button at the top right of the screen also allows you to play with the degree of blur or pixelation depending on your needs.
Once you are satisfied with the result, you can download the anonymized image in JPG format by clicking on the “Download” button.
Finally, if you are concerned about the confidentiality of your data, know that your photos are not sent to a server, but are processed locally in your browser.
In short, Redacted is really very simple and effective and should do the trick for all your anonymization needs… otherwise, you can always test FacePixelizer which I presented a few years ago here.
