You probably know this if you follow this blog regularly, but I often talk about large file transfer services, you know, those files that you can't send by email because they are too big.
In three years, I have tested quite a few alternatives right here, because many of these services are born and die every month on the web. But not all of them are equal in quality and service rate. That is why today, I am going to tell you about Smash, a 100% French service developed in Lyon by a father and his two sons… Already, on paper it is attractive, right?
You probably already know about WeTransfer, which we've talked about over and over again, so if you use it, you'll immediately be able to change your habits by using it. Smash. Smash, takes the broad outlines of this file transfer reference, but much better.
Indeed, Smash is 100% free, does not require registration and above all, does not impose any limits on the size of your file(s)!
The interface is easy to use, drag and drop the file you want to send, or click to search for it on your disk, fill in the recipient's email, your email and a message and that's it. If you prefer, you can also send yourself a link that you can share as you wish.
While sending your files, to pass the time, you access a gallery of cultural content (photos or other) from various artists… and besides that, no ads! In terms of the business model, Smash is currently working on a paid “Premium” version that will include other advanced features.
As for the recipient, once online he will receive an email, accompanied by your message, indicating that he can download the file. He will then be able to preview the file(s) before downloading it(them). These remain online for 7 days.
To facilitate your follow-up, you will receive an email when your recipient has accessed your file.
In short, Smash is one of my favorites when it comes to large file transfer services. Free and with no size limits, it really sets the bar high for all its competitors!
