When I bought my iPhone XS, the last thing I thought I would use was wireless charging. To me it seemed more like a gimmick than a useful feature… Well, I was wrong!
When MacWay offered me to test an induction charger for my iPhone, I was a little perplexed and then I told myself that it was the opportunity to try and get an idea.
So I received a 15W ZENS ZESC07BA QI charger that I rushed to install at my desk. Because in fact, this is where I spend most of my days, I put my iPhone to charge, almost permanently. Until then, I had a Belkin dock that plugged into the Lightning port of my phone. So every time I needed it, I had to remove the iPhone and then reposition it on the Lightning connector once I no longer needed it… And when you see the state of the Lightning connector on the dock, that's when you think that these comings and goings must really make the iPhone's socket suffer! First step towards converting to wireless charging!
How does induction charging work?
Qi (pronounced “Tchi” because of its Chinese origin) wireless energy transmission was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium. It is a standard that therefore allows a magnetic field to be created between a transmission medium (the charger) on one side and a compatible receiver (in our case, the smartphone) on the other. As a result, when the phone is placed on the charger (or located less than 40mm away), the magnetic field induces (hence the term induction) a current that powers and recharges the receiver's battery.

Zens Qi 15W Wireless Induction Charger
Supplied with a mains charger and relatively simple instructions, the Zens Qi charger is very easy to use. Once the device is plugged in, simply place your phone compatible with induction charging on it and it will start charging. A small blue diode on the top of the charger will indicate that the phone is charging. When you remove the phone, charging will stop naturally.
As with all induction chargers, we notice a slight heating of the device, but this is completely normal and is one of the disadvantages of this technology. On the other hand, the charge is done at the same rate (compatible with Apple and Samsung fast charging) and the presence of a case on your phone does not interfere (and that is very cool)!
At the office, I have always appreciated the docks to put my phone on. This allows you to have notifications in front of you at all times. This induction charger from Zens is a hybrid between the induction pebble and the induction dock. It will therefore be suitable for all uses.
For my part, I use it in dock position. And since it's smart, this dock is height adjustable. Raise it to the maximum to place your phone in portrait mode or, on the contrary, lower it to enjoy landscape mode... ideal if you want to charge your phone while watching a movie for example! However, we regret the lack of possibility of adjusting the tilt of the dock...
In terms of looks, the Zens Qi charger is relatively sober with its matte dark gray pebble. Not particularly "design", we will still regret the large size of this pebble which measures 11,3cm by 11,3cm... it's big and a little bulky... but the advantage is that it will work even with the largest smartphones or phablets.
After several days of use, it's hard to make me go back. I am totally convinced by the induction charging. It's incredibly comfortable and the Zens Qi charger really does its job well. If like me you had doubts, don't hesitate any longer!
