I don't know about you, but I like my office to not look too messy... so iPhone cables lying around look messy.

Since my first iPhone a few years ago, I have tried several types of docks to charge and sync your iPhone to your computer, but not all of them have been unanimous. So I wanted to try a Belkin dock compatible with my iPhone 6.

I have been testing the Belkin Lightning Charger Dock for iPhone and here are my impressions.

To start, Belkin is one of the leading brands in the field of smartphone accessories and I have already tested quite a few of their products when I was a writer on the blog. iPhone Soft. Belkin products are generally of good quality and the price reflects this a little... unfortunately... but let's not put the cart before the horse!

When you unpack this dock, you are immediately satisfied by the impression of quality that emerges from it. The finishes are impeccable and the accessory does not look cheap. What's more, this dock is slightly weighted which gives it an impression of solidity and above all it suggests that once in place, the iPhone will be well maintained.

Contents of the box:

The contents of the box are very minimalist since there is only one single piece, the charger and its USB cable. Note that the cable is attached to the base and cannot be removed (which prevents accidental disconnections).

The dock does not come with a wall plug since it is presented as a charging and synchronization dock which is therefore intended to be connected to your computer using its USB connector. However, nothing prevents you from using your iPhone charger with this dock.

About the Belkin Dock

This dock is made of matte silver hard plastic with a small black soft plastic coating where the iPhone rests. The underside of the stand is also covered in soft plastic that will prevent the base from sliding around on your desk.

A big plus of this Belkin station is that it is compatible with most Apple devices equipped with a Lightning port, namely: iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPod Touch 5th Generation, iPod Nano 7th Generation… and who knows maybe even with the iPad Mini (but unfortunately I was not able to test). As for the iPads I think they are too big and would unbalance the support.

One of the big advantages of this Belkin dock is that unlike official Apple docks, it is possible to Connect an iPhone with a case. Attention, important detail, this case must be open on the lower part of the iPhone, that is to say on the entire edge where the Lightning connector is located (see photo below). This small inconvenience is explained by the fact that to be well maintained, the iPhone rests on a small plastic blade.

One small criticism that can be made of this docking station is that inability to play on iPhone tilt when it is on the base. For my part, I even find that my iPhone 6 is a bit too "straight"... but that does not prevent its use especially since all the buttons are accessible.

And the price in all this?

If this product manages to combine aesthetics, practicality and quality, this is nevertheless felt in its price since it will cost a little less than €40 to acquire it... But what do you want, when you evolve in the Apple ecosystem, the prices inflate.

We liked

• Well finished product
• Easy access to all iPhone buttons
• Compatibility with all iPhones (and iPods) equipped with a Lightning connector
• Usable with iPhones with an open case on the lower part

We didn't like it

• Incompatibility with closed bottom shells
• Unable to change tilt of iPhone in dock (even a little)

Conclusion

iPhone sync and charging docks are a rare commodity. Few manufacturers offer quality models and Apple's don't allow you to connect an iPhone with a case. So, for once, Belkin offers a very good product here that completely fulfills its role, relatively simple, but it does it well. If we had to mention the 2 elements that make the difference and make this dock a must, it would be: its universality for all devices (iPhones and iPods) equipped with a Lightning port and the possibility of placing an iPhone with its case.

So, if you want to treat yourself, Belkin iPhone Lightning Dock – Silver is available for 41.99€ !
