You may not be aware of it, but the bicycle, with its two wheels, has a history spanning over 200 years!
It was a Frenchman, Count Mede de Sivrac, who was the first to have the idea of attaching wheels to the two ends of a piece of wood at the end of the 18th century to create the Velocifère.
Then over the years, many inventors added their own touch: the German Karl Drais von Sauerbronn added a handlebar in 1818, the Scotsman Kirkpatrick MacMillan came up with the idea of pedals in 1839, Harry J. Lawson added a chain to his pedals in 1879...
