This is a website that is no longer at its first attempt since we owe it many beautiful things relating to the history and archiving of the Internet such as The wayback machine (which allows you to consult old versions of websites) or even internet arcade (to play old arcade games)…
Indeed, the aptly named Internet Archive is embarking on a new project that involves archiving computer viruses from the 80s and 90s: the Malware Museum (or Malware Museum). This online museum will allow you to relive and rediscover in your browser the messages left by these prehistoric viruses on computers of the time.
Of course, these often devastating virus emulations were devoid of any threat to your computer and you can safely take a look at them to discover this art form that was the viruses of the time. Indeed, they left impressive messages, sometimes even accompanied by music and you could only see that the damage was done.
One thing is for sure, current viruses are far more dangerous for your security, but the vintage viruses on display in the Malware Museum were definitely cooler!
