In today’s digital age, image optimization has become a crucial aspect of any digital project. Whether you’re creating a website, a presentation, or a social media post, the size and quality of your images are paramount. Images can take up a lot of space and slow down website loading speeds or consume users’ bandwidth, which is why image optimization and image size reduction are essential.
There are many websites and applications to compress images, but most of them are paid, require installation, require the creation of a user account… and in most cases they are not very efficient, because they do not process images in batches, but only one image at a time.
Compress Images in Batch Efficiently
Toolske is a free and easy-to-use web application that allows you to optimize your images in minutes by compressing them individually or in batches. In fact, the tool is designed to process batches of images rather than individual photos, but he who can do more can do less. Its interface and operation are very simple and only 3 steps are enough. You just have to drag and drop the images you want to compress – or select them on your computer – and the tool starts working.

The tool supports the most common image formats, such as JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP and also allows you to choose the desired output format for the compressed images, as well as to process a large number of images at once (I tested up to 55 images without problems) and compress them in a few seconds. Of course, the more images to process or the heavier the images, the longer the tool will take. You will then be able to recover a ZIP file containing all your compressed photos.

The advantage of Toolske is that it does not require any software installation, all you need is a browser and an internet connection to access it.
On the other hand, in terms of weak points, I found that this image compression tool was very (too) aggressive. If it manages to divide by 2 the weight of images that I had already optimized, it pushes the compression a little too far. Results, the images are really light, but the quality is certainly affected. Afterwards, it is clearly a tool of volume more than quality!
Toolske is also a toolbox for images
Beyond this tool that allows you to compress images in batches, Toolske also offers other very interesting tools.
Thus, for the individual treatment of images, you will have at your disposal for free a tool to resize photos, but also a conversion tool into various common formats (PNG, JPG, WEBP, TIFF, WBMP, AVIF).
Then, for batch processing, Toolske offers two complementary tools: an image resizing tool as well as a tool to pass your photos from color to black and white.
Ultimately, Toolske gets the job done, and does it well. It’s an efficient, fast, and very easy-to-use tool for compressing images in batches. It does an incredible job of drastically reducing file sizes. Of course, it’s important to remember that this is a volume-oriented tool rather than a quality-oriented one. If you have a bunch of images to compress and quality isn’t your number one priority, Toolske is perfect for you. However, for projects that require high-quality images, you may want to look elsewhere or use Toolske sparingly. Let’s also not forget that this site is not limited to image compression: its arsenal of tools, such as resizing and format conversion, make it even more practical. All in all, Toolske is a tool to keep on hand for all your digital image needs.
