In its desire to win over the general public, NASA has given us a new nice surprise by offering a magnificent 360° panorama of the Namib dune, located on Mars.
The images you will see at the bottom of this article were taken during the 1th Martian day of the mission of the Curiosity rover (i.e. December 18, 2015) from the camera located on its mast.
The view below therefore shows one of the faces of the Namib dune which is part of the Bagnold dune field located on the flank of Mount Sharp.
The panorama put online by NASA takes advantage of the possibility that YouTube now offers to navigate 360° in a video. And it really makes all the difference!
So the image photographed by Curiosity comes in the form of a 2-minute video in which the image is fixed, but you can change your viewing angle by moving around with your mouse.
In short, Curiosity offers us a nice view of Mars, as if we were there!
NASA says some adjustments have been made to the colors to bring the white balance closer to what you might see in Earth-like lighting.
And if you want, you can even download the panorama as wallpapers by going to the NASA website !
