The great thing about the web is that funny things pop up from everywhere or from just about anywhere… all the time.
This is the case again this time with a video made by the English filmmaker Simon Smith.
In fact, in the mid-20s, another filmmaker, Claude Friese-Greene, toured the United Kingdom with his new colour camera which would result in a series of films entitled The Open Road. The highlight of his trip was London.
But back to Simon Smith, who in 2013 decided to follow in Claude Friese-Greene's footsteps with his own color camera to make his own film. And the result is pretty cool.
In fact, the latter synchronized his film shot by shot with that of the 20s to get as close as possible to the timing and the shooting angle of the time.
The result is a 6-minute film with images from 1927 on the left and those from 2013 on the right... Enjoy!
