In the very nice video below, Virgin Australia, shows us in 2:35 minutes how the planes in its fleet were repainted on the occasion of the introduction of a new livery.
The process begins with the removal of the previous livery, because indeed, every gram counts on an aircraft, and it is difficult to imagine that one could end up with 20 layers of paint like in an old apartment repainted many times.
Once the plane has been stripped down to its exposed steel plates, several undercoats and layers of paint are applied successively until the final result is achieved!
For each plane, you need to count:
- 11 days of work
- 18 painters
- 260 liters of paint
- 1200 man-hours
In short, the work is rather impressive! I'll let you judge:
