This web service is a huge gem! Well, it's certainly not new since it's been around for a little over a year... but if like me you missed it, you'll most certainly appreciate it!
To shorten it, Surfly is a co-browsing service (co-navigation). That is to say, it is a service that will allow you to share with one or more people the view of your web browser when you visit a website.
To take a concrete example, imagine that your grandmother, not exactly up to date with technology, wants to create a Facebook account and understand how it works… If you live next door to her, the nicest thing is still to go and pay her a little visit to explain everything to her. On the other hand, if you are on the other side of France, you will be able to use Surfly to help him create his account and explain how it works by giving him a remote demonstration.
Indeed, when you are on Surfly, you just have to indicate the address of the website on which you wish to co-navigate and a link will be generated that you will have to transmit to the person(s) with whom you want to share your view.
So there is no software or extensions to install and that’s the big strong point of this solution!
From then on, the person will be able to see everything you do on the website in question. Your mouse will appear on the screen of your interlocutors and their mouse will be visible on your screen if they want to show you certain things. But you are the one who has control (which you can share with them if necessary).
In its sales pitch, Surfly thinks of 4 uses of its service:
- Remote service and support
- Distance selling (for example, you can help your customer plan their vacation)
- Online consulting (for example for configuring a website)
- Between friends for fun or to prepare things together (vacations, events, etc.)
Sadly, Surfly's free version is limited and only allows you to launch 5 sessions per month… you will have to pay $19/month (around €18) to upgrade to the Pro version and have an unlimited number of sessions.
In any case, Surfly is a very good co-browsing site, which works perfectly thanks to its simplicity and ergonomics... designed more for professionals than for individuals with only 5 free sessions per month, it can however help you out on occasion!
