So every time I have the opportunity to test a product from the XGIMI range, I jump on it! And this is the case with the XGIMI MoGo 4 which is for me the most amazing and innovative to date of their reasonably priced video projectors.

There's always something exciting about unboxing a new product. Even when you know exactly what you're going to find, there's a little impatience to discover the product with your own eyes, to feel the quality of the materials and to spot any surprises.
In the case of XGIMI MoGo 4, no frills or extravagant packaging. The approach is simple and effective, focused on the essentials. Here's what's in the box:

Start-up
True to its reputation, XGIMI prioritizes simplicity. The MoGo 4 is no exception to the rule: it is quick and intuitive to start up and requires no particular technical skills.
Through its built-in battery No need to plug it in immediately, just press the back button to turn it on. In a few seconds, the interface Google TV is displayed: fluid, clear and very ergonomic (a real improvement compared to Android TV).
Setup is a snap: pairing the remote control, connecting to WiFi, linking your Google account, choosing apps, etc. everything is guided step by step. Less than ten minutes later, you will be able to launch your first film.
Another advantage inherited from previous models: the auto focus and the keystone correctionThe MoGo 4 automatically adjusts the image so it's sharp and straight, even if the camera is slightly off-center. The more demanding users can still fine-tune it manually.
In short, a hassle-free handling that allows you to enjoy the projector just minutes after taking it out of the box.
Image quality and brightness
I didn't expect such a clean result from a portable projector! As soon as the room isn't too bright, the MoGo 4's image has everything it needs: the colors are full of life, the contrast is strong enough to give relief, and the sharpness holds up very well up to a good hundred inches. For a device that fits in a backpack, that's frankly impressive.

On the other hand, let's be clear: in broad daylight outdoors, the image fadesAmbient light eats into the brightness of its 450 ISO lumens, and the output loses some of its sparkle. Nothing unusual—most portable projectors face the same limitation. As soon as the room's brightness drops, the projection immediately regains its color and punch.
In everyday use, it is therefore a very convincing compromise. : you can enjoy a great quality image in the evening, or in a room that's just a little darkened, without sacrificing portability. For me, the MoGo 4 ticks all the boxes for the "improvised little movie session".
ISA is still here!
One of the real assets of the XGIMI MoGo 4, it is its ability to adapt to each new environment, and this is where the ISA technology (Intelligent Screen Adaptation) comes into play. When you're talking about a portable projector, which you often move from room to room—or even outdoors—this flexibility really makes a difference.
The MoGo 4 is capable of automatically correct keystone, that is to say to straighten the image even if the camera is placed crooked. And thanks to the auto focus, no need to turn a wheel: the image is clear in a few seconds, regardless of the distance or the surface.
But that's not all. The projector also includes a smart eye protection : as soon as it detects a presence in front of the lens (especially a curious child), it reduces the brightness to avoid glare. A little extra that shows how well it is designed for everyday use.
Finally, with its system ofobstacle avoidance et smart image alignment, the MoGo 4 automatically detects anything that might interfere with projection—like a light switch or a painting—and adjusts the image to avoid it.
No matter where you put it, the MoGo 4 takes care of everything. And that's exactly what you expect from a portable projector: simple and effective.
A truly portable and transportable video projector
We often talk about a portable projector, but the MoGo 4 really deserves this title. With 1,31 kg on the scale and its elongated format, the size of a large thermos, slips easily into a backpack or even a tote bag. You only need to take a USB-C charger "just in case". Ideal for moving from one room to another, improvising a movie session at a friend's house or projecting a slideshow on the white wall of a holiday cottage.
Another detail that changes everything: the integrated 360° supportA small hinge at the base allows you to raise or tilt the device to virtually any angle, without having to stack books or search for a tripod. Just set it down, point it, press play—that's it. For a portable device, this flexibility is a real plus. : we keep our hands free and we don't spend three hours wedging the machine with board game boxes.
Autonomy
XGIMI announces up to 2 hours 30 minutes of video in Eco mode and about 6 hours in audio playback only thanks to the battery of 71 Wh. Enough to watch a feature film or a few episodes of a series... but for more peace of mind, it is still important to have a backup charging solution: power outlet or other.
Besides, the port USB-C supports charging via a 65W power bank : laptop with laptop always results in something portable. For movie marathons or outdoor screenings, the brand also offers the PowerBase, a battery base that clips under the projector and almost doubles the endurance — we'll come back to this later.
In everyday life, this flexibility makes all the difference: the MoGo 4 remains portable, autonomous and always ready to project your films in a big way whenever the mood takes you.
More than a video projector, an atmosphere creator
Thought you'd only use the MoGo 4 for movies and TV shows? Think again ! XGIMI has made this device a true mood creator that transforms any wall into a luminous canvas: romantic sunset, hypnotic lunar halo or simple subdued lighting for an aperitif with friends. The projector then becomes an XXL mood lamp, with integrated light, color and even music…
In concrete terms, you simply clip on one of the magnetic creative filters (more on that later) to switch to a "sound and light show." It's instantaneous: the LED lamp adapts its colorimetry, a little ambient music starts playing, and there you have it, a set all ready to go.

The quirky and festive side of the MoGo 4 comes largely from its magnetic creative filtersVisually, they look like small photo lenses; in reality, they transform the projector into a generator of colorful, festive or even "spatial" atmospheres.
- You clip the filter onto the lens;
- The app XGIMI Optical Creative Filter (to be installed on first use) starts automatically;
- The image is adorned with specific lighting and ambient music starts;
- By waving your hand in front of the lens, you cycle through the filter variations.
A filter "Sunset" comes standard: it simulates several sunsets, perfect for a relaxing evening. To go further, XGIMI sells a pack of three additional filters at €99 — a price that I find a little high (≈ €33 per filter), but the advantage is that you are not forced to buy them if you are not interested and the MoGo 4 can live very well without them!

Honestly ? It's a little extra rather than a must-have. : nice for impressing guests or creating a gentle atmosphere at the end of the evening, but far from being crucial for everyday use. The main thing is that it doesn't detract from the qualities of the MoGo 4; you're free to use it whenever you want... or to do without it without any regrets.
And everything else…
The sound of silence
It's simple: we (practically) don't hear it.
XGIMI announces less than 28 dB a meter away, and that's exactly what it sounds like: a muffled whisper, quieter than a laptop fan. In a quiet room, you really have to listen carefully to hear it; as soon as the film's soundtrack starts, it disappears completely from the soundscape.
True comfort comes from the fact that the noise remains constant; it does not rise and fall abruptly. Result: the brain quickly blocks it out, and we focus on the image. For a portable projector, this is a significant advantage: you can set it up in the middle of the living room, or even on a coffee table right in front of you, without feeling like you're sharing the session with a miniature hairdryer.
Connectivity
Connections side, The MoGo 4 is not to be outdone: Google Cast, HDMI, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. In short, you can cast your videos from your phone in one tap thanks to the integrated Cast; latency is minimal and the image quality follows without hiccups. The port HDMI accepts a console or TV stick without flinching, practical for Mario Kart evenings or professional presentations.
Le 5 WiFi ensures smooth streaming in Full HD, but no WiFi 6 on the horizon: not dramatic today, but something to keep in mind if your future network upgrades to very high speed. For audio, the Bluetooth 5.1 allows you to connect a wireless speaker or headset in seconds; the pairing is stable, the range is decent. One small drawback, however: no wired audio output. If you prefer the good old jack cable, you will have to use an HDMI-ARC adapter or live without it.
A surprisingly full sound
I was also pleasantly surprised by the audio part. The two 6W Harman/Kardon speakers deliver clear sound, powerful enough to fill a living room without saturating, and voices remain perfectly intelligible even at higher volumes. The bass obviously won't shake the couch like a dedicated soundbar, but it has enough roundness to give depth to explosive trailers or gaming sessions.
In short, for a 1,3 kg projector, the rendering is well above the portable average: you can do without an external speaker as long as you are not looking for “full-throttle Dolby Atmos” home cinema.
Two remote controls for the price of one!
XGIMI slides into the box two remote controls and it's a rather nice surpriseThe first, compact and minimalist, fits in the palm of your hand: perfect if you carry the projector around and want to travel light. It goes straight to the essentials: volume, navigation, Google Assistant microphone, period.
The second is a remote control with a more traditional design, with dedicated buttons for the main platforms (YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, etc.) and even a configurable shortcut key. The remote also has backlighting, which is very practical in the dark. The buttons fall well under the thumb and the grip is excellent for everyday use. Lost the mini? Don't panic, there's still the large one. Prefer a sleek look on the coffee table? Put away the large one and keep the mini. In short, a clever little bonus that adapts to your habits.
Netflix licensed
One of the biggest drawbacks of previous generations of XGIMI devices was the lack of a Netflix license. So, you had to be cunning to run Netflix on your XGIMI projector.
This is no longer the case, Netflix works natively on the MoGo 4 ! And that's really appreciated.
So you can find all the usual platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and YouTube.
Low latency, close to that of a gaming screen
The video projector XGIMI MoGo 4 offers a particularly low latency, an essential criterion for video game enthusiasts. In game mode with automatic image correction (AK) disabled, it displays a response time lower than 20 milliseconds, which allows for optimal responsiveness, even in fast-paced or competitive games.
This level of performance places the MoGo 4 among the most suitable portable projectors for gaming. When the mode AK (Auto Keystone) is enabled — to automatically correct keystone distortion — the latency drops to approximately 56 ms, an acceptable compromise for more casual or narrative games.
PowerBase Support
Among the particularly interesting accessories of the MoGo 4, XGIMI offers a 2-in-1 support including a 65W 20000 mAh batteryThis gives your projector 5 hours of battery life in eco mode.
This well-thought-out support weighs only 830g and disassembles into two 41 cm tubes, ideal for easy storage when on the go.
The PowerBase is equipped with a USB-C input for charging and a USB-C output to connect to the MoGo 4 for charging. The projector clips easily onto the top of the stem and detaches with a small button.
A tripod is used to keep the stand firmly on the ground. Unfortunately, the tripod part is made of plastic and feels a bit flimsy.
Available for €80 if you buy it as a bundle with the MoGo 4, the PowerBase stand can also be purchased separately for 129€ on the XGIMI website.

In the end, the XGIMI MoGo 4 clearly delivers on its promise: offering a big screen everywhere, without any hassle. You take it out of the bag, turn it on, it focuses and reframes the image all by itself, launches Google TV with official Netflix, plays more than decent sound... and there you are, settled in for a movie, a game or a slideshow. Of course, its 450 ISO lumens show their limits in broad daylight and the connectivity remains minimalist, but for a block of 1,31 kg Equipped with an integrated battery, the size-performance ratio is impressive. If you need more autonomy, the pack PowerBase extends the session for a reasonable additional cost; if you like light gadgets, creative filters are there (and you don't have to buy them).
In short, a solid, easy-to-use portable projector that is already very comprehensive in its basic configuration. For impromptu movie nights, family use or even a bit of gaming, it ticks all the boxes while remaining easy to carry.
