Archive files, these famous ZIP, RAR, TAR or other files can be very practical for grouping documents or reducing their weight, but can sometimes pose a problem when they are damaged or you do not have the necessary tools to extract this or that type of archive.
Zipi-Tools is a toolbox dedicated to archive files that will allow you to check, repair or convert your archives.
Control an archive
The check tool will simply allow you to make sure that your archive file is not damaged.
The interest may seem limited, but Zipi-Tools can connect to your cloud tools (Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3, or FTP) to automatically check if your archive files are in good condition, are not missing or have not undergone a significant change in their size. It is therefore an ideal tool if you have automatic backups that are done in the cloud.
This relatively specific automation feature is part of a paid subscription. However, you can check your archives manually for free.
Repair an archive
Probably one of the most interesting features, Zipi-Tools allows you to repair corrupted archives. To do this, you will need to create a free account.
Currently, Zipi-Tools is only able to repair ZIP files.
Of course, it doesn't work every time, but it's worth the cost of trying the repair!
Convert an archive
This is also a very important feature since it will allow you to convert archive files that you don't know how to open into more common files.
In terms of supported formats, Zipi-Tools is able to convert:
- from the formats: ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2, TAR.XZ, JPA and RAR
- to formats: ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2, TAR.XZ and RAR
Zipi-Tools is currently in beta and we can therefore hope to see other features and support for other formats in the months or years to come!
