ZMO Remover: erase a logo or object from a photo

Article updated on January 10, 2025

ZMO Remover is one of those websites that I like to introduce to you on Byothe.fr. Indeed, it is a free online utility that allows you to erase an object on a photo or any other annoying element: person, task, logo, watermark…

Indeed, the presence of an object, a trace or any other unwanted thing on a photo can make it unusable for a project. A little nothing can really ruin an image. And since not everyone necessarily has the skills to use professional software like Photoshop to remove them by hand, more and more "magic" tools are appearing on the web to make our lives easier!

Erase an object from a photo using artificial intelligence

Now, Remover.zmo didn't "invent the wheel" when it comes to erasing objects with its magic eraser, but it seems to me to be one of the fastest and most efficient image processing tools I've tested to date. In just a few seconds, you can remove residue and imperfections from images or anything else you don't want, like a person or animal.

This is once again the application of artificial intelligence via machine learning which allows this tool to obtain very satisfactory results.

ZMO Remover: An easy-to-use tool

The good thing about ZMO Remover is that this tool is really easy to use to erase an object from a photo or image.

In fact, you just need to upload an image to the site, either by dragging it to the appropriate area or by clicking on the dotted area to browse the folders on your computer or the photo library on your smartphone.

Once the photo is loaded, you will have to paint the element to be removed using a brush whose thickness you can adjust. No need to be ultra precise, you can go over it by coloring! Once it is done, click on the "Erase" button to start the treatment.

After a few seconds, the "cleaned" image will be displayed and you will be able to download it by clicking on "Download current picture" at the top right of the screen.

While this tool does not set any limitations on the number of images you can process, it does not allow you to download the result in HD. You will get a PNG file with a maximum side size of 720 px.

As often with this type of tool, I like to do several tests in different conditions to see how well it handles different contexts.

So I started with a photo of a palm tree in front of a white building facade. I roughly painted the palm tree with the tool's brush and started the grinder. First test largely conclusive. The AI managed to reconstruct the pieces of window that were hidden by the palm tree as well as the horizontal bar. We can't see anything but fire. Amazing!

For the second attempt, I decided to remove a pencil placed on a gridded notebook. Again, the result is really satisfying. The AI was able to reproduce the grid of the notebook even if it is a little pale.

After two particularly satisfactory attempts, I wanted to push the AI a little further by using a photo macro of a bee on a flower. I was kind of expecting it, but we arrive at a level of complexity that is too high to obtain a satisfactory result on the first pass. On the other hand, by repeating the operation two more times and taking the previous result each time, I arrived at a correct result.

I carried out a few more tests, particularly with this field and these bales of hay, which allowed me to achieve a satisfactory result.

In short, ZMO Remover is a really effective tool for removing an object from a photo. But as is often the case with artificial intelligence, it is impossible to achieve perfection in somewhat complex cases. Nevertheless, in many cases, the result is really satisfying and sometimes amazing!
